In my quest to find the perfect SEO software, I found a web service which got me hooked. I decided to write a Web CEO review, to show you what got me so excitet. Currently, I have been using various web services which help me improve SEO – onsite and offsite for my sites. While each service has one strong pillar, you won’t find a service that is strong on all fields.
Web CEO Review
Whenever I look at SEO software I always unknowingly try to compare it with Ahrefs. So far, it has worked well for me and It’s hard to imagine that one SEO tool would be better so why change? What’s so great about Web CEO is that it doesn’t try to compete with Ahrefs. Instead, they did an amazing thing, they use Ahrefs backlinks database and build on a great foundation, a product that can replace various services you may need to boost your website to the first position on search engines.
Service is divided in to 4 foundation pillars
- Website audit and optimization
- Link building and monitoring your and competitors website
- Social metrics
- Marketing and analysis
Website audit and optimization – Onsite SEO
One of first thing you will notice when you create your account and your website is onsite audit feature. Audit is composed of check marks you should complete in order your website is completely SEO friendly.
Internal Links optimization shows you how content is positioned on authority wise, which pages are linked the most, text juice on the pages, which links are nofollow and links number of links going on other internal pages. This feature comes handy when you want to optimize pages for internal linking.
You can also see page authority for every page, number of inbound links, status and most importantly, you can mark page as a landing page.
Mobile Audit
Mobile internet usage has increased, it’s hard not to imagine a world without a smartphone and tablets. Due to dramatic mobile usage, Google has decided to include mobile as a ranking factor. Not only because of it’s magnitude but also because it has a mission to show only the best content to it’s users. If user is served a webpage which is not optimized for mobile, their experience is bad. Mobile ranking factors will help with that. WebCEO has a Mobile Audit feature which is part of the package. It’s connected to Google Pagespeed service meaning that information you see is the most relevant as it’s coming direct from Google. What the audit does is several important things: It scans your website with a tablet in landscape and portrait mode and it also scan the website with a smartphone. You can easily see if there is a problem you have to fix. In addition, it will show you which aspects you have to fix in order to improve your website (it can be mobile ready but it can still face issues)
Technical audit
The message you send to search engines is important. Do you have a lot of broken links? Do you have a lot of 404 errors? Do you have broken anchors? Server issues perhaps?
You may not be aware, but the more content you have, the longer you are online chance of broken links on you site increases. Reason is pretty simple, website you have linked to may be gone or page was deleted, moved and then broken links appear.
This factors all count to the way search engine ranks your site. If you have a lot of broken links, 404’s, server issues, then it’s only a matter of time before your rank will fall. That’s why is important that your website is technically perfect. Technical audit can help you with many of important factors.
On-site SEO audit
It’s kind of sad how some websites fall when looking at their website SEO structure. The main problem which may not be related to the owner of the website is the website structure. Some themes for WordPress are broken and may cause issues to the rankings. On the other hand, there may be some things that the owner can improve and this are site structure, redirects, different page description, nice permalinks, XML Sitemap and robots.txt file…
All of this factors are being checked with the site audit feature.
Landing Page SEO
Landing pages are pages which are used to land people on to your service. They are specially optimized for conversion. In web commerce, this pages have best sellers featured as a products but with bloggers, this pages can be SEO optimized to drive SERP visitors. It’s important to note that this pages usually drive 80% of all traffic.
Part of the service is also Landing Page SEO. You have an option to add pages that are the most important to you and would like to optimize them for even better performance. Once you add your pages, WebCEO scans pages and provides important information from one dashboard.
First, you will see how well page is optimized in percentage, amount of critical issues, number of issues that should be fixed, broken links and Inbound internal links. In addition, it will provide you with SEO content optimization recommendations which will ensure that your pages rank well in search results. I mean, you can have the best content, but if it’s not optimized for search engines you will be writing content for your self. Recommendations include evertything from adding keywords in body, keywords in Title tags in image name, url, etc… But to top it all, you have also a density calculator which will prevent over stuffing article with your keywords.
Once you set up your landing pages you have a special dashboard where you have a complete overview over your the most important pages. Overview has all information which can help you fix potential problems. Not only about content but also about page speed score (also a ranking factor), mobile optimizations, number of backlinks, social citations and number of visits for the last 30 days.
Sitemap generation
Sitemap is one of the most important SEO aspects. If you are using WordPress, that is easy. You have plugins which generate sitemaps automatically as soon as you post new article. But If you are using a HTML website, then you don’t have access to plugins that generate sitemap, in that case you can generate sitemap with WebCEO which you can upload via FTP to your server where you host your site.
Backlinks
WebCEO has a great backlinks module. Dashboard features several widgets that give you insight in to your website performance. First you will notice total backlinks in a a graph presentation in addition next widget shows you break down of linking pages, linking IP Addresses, linking domains (.gov and .edu) and linking subnet’s. You can also compare link popularity with your competitors. You will also be interested in top linking TLDS. What about the most linked to content? You can see top 5 link texts for your website. I can see the most linked to content from one widget. If you added competitors to your settings, you will also see how your site compares with the number of backlinks.
Dangerous Back-links
I think that webmasters who have never faced Google penalty don’t know the feelings of their colleagues who were hit by either Panda or the Penguin algorithm. First day when your traffic drops you feel really bad. Then you say to your self, it’s only one day, tomorrow will be better. But what happens when one day turns to a week, one month even months? How do you fix the problem? Or even better, how do you prevent penguin from happening?
Web CEO has a great feature called can prevent Penguin easily. Once all the backlinks are analyzed, Web CEO using specially crafted algorithm, defines which backlinks are toxic (dangerous and can potentially harm your website). Once you have that information you can easily act and clean harmful links.
Competitors back links
There are many ranking factors that influence how your website ranks in search results. But no matter which ranking factor you look at, there is one the matters the most and that factor is back link profile. You can still rank better if you have more high quality back links than your competitor. What you can do to out rank your competitor is to check their back links and try to get back links from the same sources. You can easily check competitors with Competitor back link profile feature. You will see their back links, URL rank and can compare profile with your website
List of domains linking to your website
You can sort backlinks based on domain name. In this view you can see how many links are coming from that domain name, how many links have Nofollow status, google PR, Ahfres domain rank and even category if listed in DMOZ.
Watch links like a hawk
One of my favorite features is called Links Watch Summary. Here you can import back links from a CSV file and monitor them. In some cases black hat techniques are applied to back links.
Once you set up your back link profile, you will see in a nice dashboard if links have any kind of issues, most importantly if links are live
Web Buzz Monitoring
Web Buzz monitoring is monitoring the web about your brand on steroids.
I can’t tell you how happy I am about this feature. I come from Retail environment. If you think about you will understand how important it is for retail to understand what customers think and perceive the company. Management could think that all departments are great, but what customers think may shock them if they know.
Claims department is the one that can do a lot of damage to the company image. IF the claims are not resolved at the right time people are angry. When they are angry they like to epxress their opinion on the internet. When that happens you need to know. It was very strange for use when we found old topics about the claims which we found too late.
Web Buzz can help you in such situations. As soon as there is a buzz about your brand on the internet, you get information in a nice, easy to navigate view.
Why it is so important to be on top on web buzz?
- Because you are able to tap into discussion and fix the problem
- Because you are able to adjust the pricing as soon as you find discussion about the pricing
- Because you may have a big problem inside the company but you are not aware of it (claims for example)
- You can find new opportunities
Auto website submission
Part of every SEO process is building links. When you start a new website, you don’t have any links pointing at your website. WebCEO helps you with the process. You can automatically and manually include your website to Search engines and Directories, you can include your website to local search engines to help you with local rankings, eCommerce sites, Content Submissions sites, Blog SEs & Directories and PPC.
I would advise you don’t abuse this feature and slowly submit your website to the lists. If you get too many back-links it may be suspicious to web engines. But it is a great start.
Rank tracking
Rank tracking is a feature which justifies having Web CEO subscription. It’s one one of the best in it’s class. In a nice looking dashboard you get immediate overview of top keywords and their positions in major search engines. Search engines and rankings are neatly organized in a graph. You can define countries and which search engines so that you can focus optimizing for your target group.
You also get information for your top 5 keywords, ranking and changes are easily seen.
When you start your SEO campaign it’s a normal practice to monitor your keywords. Ranking history will show you your keywords in a graph, so that you see when your rankings picked up. Again for countries and search engines you selected.
I love an option to present your rankings. You can see your position and you can see who is ranking better than you. It also shows ranking for pictures! as pictures can drive additional traffic to your site.
Traffic & Competitor analysis
When you setup Web CEO for the first time, you can also connect it to Google analytics. Dashboards can show your some information so that you don’t have to login to GA account every time, instead on reports / dashboards you will see accurate information for your sites. If you want to improve your rankings you have to check what your competitors are doing from time to time. Part of the suite is also competitor analysis. You can analyze your competitors and gain some useful data. You can see how they fare regarding organic, direct, paid search and site referrals. At the bottom is also Alexa ranking which can show ranking compared to other sites.
Branded reports
One of the good things about reporting is that you can set up branding for reports. If you have a customer you can set up automated reporting with your brand. You can add your logo and you can set up a nice picture for the front page.
In the report customer will see a to-do list of things they can do by them self to help them rank higher. They will also get insight about their site visibility, keywords ranking, ranking position how their site ranks in major search engines and rakings of their keywords in the top 1, top 10, top 20 and top 30.
It’s amazing when you get a call from the customer thanking you for insight they don’t have. Once they see report they will gladly pay for the service you provide.
Pricing
WebCEO is available in several plans. To see what’s all the buzz about WebCEO you can start with a FREE but a bit limited plan. In order to experience the full power of WebCEO you will have to sign up to a payed plan. Pricing starts at $75 for a startup plan and range all the way to $375. Agencies can earn a lot of money by using WebCEO and help their clients not only to prevent Penalty but also notify about rankings with super duper branded reports.
Pros
I really love Web CEO, it has all the features one may need to increase visitors, fix onsite AND offsite SEO, monitor backlinks, monitor competition and so much more….
Cons
I can’t find anything wrong with it.
Web CEO Suite
Summary: Great all in one, well balanced, full of features SEO service which can save you from the penguin penalty, increase visitors and fix on site SEO.
